An ear infection, or Acute Otitis Media (AOM), is caused by a blockage of your eustachian tube, the canal that connects your ear to your throat, which traps fluid in your middle ear, right behind your ear drum. This stagnant fluid is a breeding ground for bacteria and viruses, the same way mosquitos infest stagnant water. The build up fluid and pus increases the pressure in the middle ear and cause pain.
In many cases antibiotics are prescribed to kill the viruses and bacterias that are living in the stagnant fluid in your ear. Though, most of the time, the bugs are annihilated, the fluid remains, the bugs return and the cycle continues. The solution seems to be to find a way to drain the trapped fluid.
Chiropractic care helps the body find that solution. Chiropractic adjustments of the neck will correct misalignments of the cervical spine, which removes interference of the nerves that go to the tiny muscles inside the eustachian tube. Once the interferecne is gone the body will allow the muscles to relax and the fluid to drain. NO fluid, NO infection, NO pain!
