Last night we had my son's 1st birthday party. I can't believe on Wednesday he will be one years old. Everyone keeps telling me how time flies - it sure has! I remember how miserable I was at this point last year and how I had no idea in just a few short days my life would change forever. He is the most sweet, easy-going baby. My husband and I sure are blessed and lucky to have such a wonderful little boy. We celebrated out on our farm and did a "John Deere" theme. Everything was green and yellow or tractors. It tied in perfectly to the fall season. We were lucky and had a beautiful, sunny, warm day - especially since the party was in our barn (outside). I got a 3D John Deere tractor chocolate cake and since there were about 60 people I also had my cousin make a homemade carrot cake and I made a vanilla cake. I've mentioned before the importance of not abstaining from all foods all the time while you're dieting or you'll most likely regret it later. I decided to have a bite of all three flavors - they were all divine. Since I was so busy I didn't have time to eat until 10 which probably did have my body in "starvation" mode and I'm sure I gained. I also had a glass of wine which has a lot of sugar in it. The combination of the sugar that I never have from the cakes, the wine, and the dried cranberries on my salad left my heart literally racing when I went to bed. I was exhausted but didn't sleep at all last night because I was so wired from all the sugar. It just reinforces the idea even more that sugar is not good for my body. If you refrain from all sugar most of the time and then go crazy in one night the spike in your blood-level is going to rage. I hated it and it made me feel sluggish all at the same time! Needless to say, the pound I lost today that had me at 124.4 (which I bet would've had me at my goal weight at JC) now has caused me to gain, I'm not kidding...TWO POUNDS. Ugh. I was so close to being done.
